Reiki: Energy Healing for Relaxation & Wellbeing

Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan. It can support physical, emotional, and energetic wellbeing by gently addressing areas of tension or imbalance.


Practitioners act as conduits for Reiki energy, helping the body restore balance on multiple levels. Many clients notice benefits such as emotional release, nervous system regulation, reduced stress, improved sleep, and increased vitality.



In the context of trauma recovery, Reiki can complement other therapies, such as talk therapy, by gently relaxing areas of held tension and supporting somatic release.


Restoration of Physical Function

Every individual will experience Reiki differently, but in Tracey’s experience, recipients frequently report feeling deeply relaxed. A deeply relaxed state is supportive of the healing process.

Tracey Shewan has completed Reiki Training up to Level 3. She has practised Reiki for 8 years. Either on its own as a deeply restorative treatment or in conjunction with acupuncture, it is a profoundly healing modality.


During Reiki, the practitioner places their hands lightly on or near specific areas of the head, limbs and torso. Recipients may feel many different sensations in response to this, along with a sense of deep relaxation and quietening of the mind.

Reiki can be used on its own or in conjunction with other types of therapeutic approaches, and can be especially helpful for those needing some gentle somatic support in the healing and processing of trauma related emotional and energetic contractions.
